Engineering Syncs
Purpose
Our weekly engineering sync is an exception our general philosophy on meetings (action-oriented, specific, only including the necessary people). This weekly sync will provide an opportunity for cross-functional connection and work sharing. We may change this format in the future, but as a super small team, we have the opportunity to connect across problem spaces and learn about issues outside of our specialization. We encourage participants to try and focus on contributions related to projects outside their area of expertise, and not just tune out during the meeting ;)
Transparency & alignment
Engineering syncs provide a platform for the whole team to share progress and align on priorities. Discussing this in a cross team platform allows us to discover blockers, dependencies, and areas of collaboration early on.
Accountability
Regular meetings helps us keep track of project progress, identify areas for improvement and follow-up on action items.
Brainstorming
These meetings are an opportunites to discuss challenges or brainstorm solutions as a team.
Sharing demos
Teams can showcase their work and receive feedback from the rest of the team.
Team-building
As a remote company, we don't get many opportunities to meet in person. These meetings allow us to get to know each other and build more personal relationships.
Agenda
- Unstructured/Celebrations/Intros: Open space to chat, introduce new team members, and celebrate team or individual accomplishments.
- Project Updates: Share updates on projects, challenges, and progress.
- Demos: Showcase the work of the team.
- Discuss Priorities: Review and discuss priorities and potential blockers.
- Review Action Items: Recap and assign action items for the next sync.
